SeismoBuild is an innovative Finite Element package wholly and exclusively dedicated to seismic assessment and strengthening of reinforced concrete structures. The program is capable of fully carrying out the Code defined assessment methodologies from the structural modelling through to the required analyses, corresponding member checks, creation of the technical report and CAD drawings. Currently six international Codes are supported (Eurocode EN 1998-3, American Code for Seismic Evaluation and Retrofit of Existing Buildings ASCE 41-17, Italian National Seismic Code NTC-18 & NTC-08, Greek Seismic Interventions Code KANEPE and Turkish Seismic Evaluation Building Code TBDY).

Building Modelling

Building modelling module is a unique CAD-based facility for efficient, fast and intuitive way to facilitate the creation of reinforced concrete building models.
  • User can create real regular or irregular 3D reinforced concrete models within minutes.
  • Easy CAD-based input; the floor’s plan view can be used as background.
  • Predefined built-in cross sections of various shapes for both existing and strengthened (jacketed) members (rectangular, L-shaped, T-shaped, circular, shear walls, normal or inverted T-beams).
  • Easy modelling of strengthening with Fiber-Reinforced Polymers (FRP) wraps.
  • A large library of existing FRP materials is available.
  • Easy modelling of inclined beams, slabs and staircases.

Code Requirements

Code requirements features a series of modules where the necessary settings for the analyses and checks can be defined according to the selected Code or Standard.
  • Available supported Codes are Eurocode EN 1998-3, American Code for Seismic Evaluation and Retrofit of Existing Buildings ASCE 41-17, Italian National Seismic Code NTC-18 & NTC-08, Greek Seismic Interventions Code KANEPE and Turkish Seismic Evaluation Building Code TBDY.
  • Straightforward definition of code-based parameters.
  • Simple input of limit states, building performance levels, earthquake hazard levels, knowledge levels, analyses type, seismic actions, types of checks to be performed and safety factors.

Eigenvalue Analysis

Eigenvalue analysis of the structural model is carried out in this module, in order to obtain its modal periods and eigen-shapes. The results of the analysis will be used in the calculation of the target displacements for pushover analyses.

Pushover Analysis

Pushover analysis is the module where the selected pushover analyses are carried out.
  • AVI movie files can be created to better illustrate the sequence of structural deformation.
  • Automatic calculation of the target displacement.
  • Capacity curves for the selected limit states and load cases are displayed.
  • Numerical stability and accuracy at the very high strain levels.
  • Smart subdivision of the loading increment, whenever convergence problems arise.
  • Detailed and intuitive presentation of the analytical results; tables, charts and 3D plots featuring areas of plastic hinges and elements with damage are available.

Pushover Analysis


Checks

With SeismoBuild all code-defined capacity checks are carried out quickly and efficiently. Checks module features a series of tabs whereby the results for all the selected checks can be viewed in tabular format and graphically.
  • All code-defined capacity checks are supported (shear capacity, chord rotation capacity, interstorey drift level, beam-column joints checks).
  • Checks presented on a table and on the 3D plot with different colours for easier identification of the damage.
  • Failed members where the capacity is exceeded are highlighted with red.

Capacity Checks


Report

After completing the structural analyses and the capacity checks, users may obtain a detailed and complete technical report of the structural assessment.
  • Detailed technical report in PDF, RTF or HTML format.
  • The content (text, plots and tables) and the size of the report can be determined by users.
  • Creation of CAD drawings with plan views, members’ cross sections and reinforcement tables; specially create *.ctb files are included.
